ADR organised a Forum on "General Elections 2024: Issues, Challenges & Opportunities" on March 10, 2024, from 09:30 AM to 3:00 PM at Lecture Room - II Basement (Annexe), India International Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi - 110003.
 



The discussion saw an array of lawyers, members of political parties, academics and leading thinkers in this area to deliberate on the issues and opportunities for the world's biggest elections and suggest possible ways to address challenges faced in the wake of changing dynamics of electoral politics in India.

The event had two sessions namely, "Integrity & Inclusiveness of Indian Elections" and "Money, Muscle and Elections in India".




The focus areas of the session on "Integrity & Inclusiveness of Indian Elections" were as follows:
a) Simultaneous Elections
b) Counting of 100% VVPATs in all EVMs
c) Current practice of declaration of election results based on estimated/raw data
d) Voting rights for migrant voters
e) Digital Election Campaign



The focus areas of the session on "Money, Muscle and Elections in India" were as follows:
a) Election funding and Campaign Expenditure
b) Winnability of candidates with criminal antecedents
c) Factors driving voter behaviour on money and muscle power
d) Women and Youth Representation in Politics
