Out of 14 newly elected BJP mayors, four face charges of serious criminal cases, according to the report released by the Association for Democratic Reform (ADR).

According to the report released on Thursday, BJP mayors-Abhilasha Nandi (Allahabad), Rishikesh Upadhayay (Ayodhya), Pramila Pandey (Kanpur) and Navin Kumar Jain (Agra)- face criminal charges, including that of endangering life or personal safety, rioting and assault or criminal force to deter public servant from his duty.

The association analysed data for 15 mayors, excluding BJP's Asha Sharma from Ghaziabad, whose affidavit was not available to the ADR. As the report, 12 out of the 15 mayors are crorepatis, with Agra Mayor, Naveen Jain topping the list.

Jain has movable/immovable assets worth over Rs 400 crore. He is followed by BJP's newly elected mayor from Allahabad, Abhilasha Nandi, who had net assets worth over Rs 58 crore.

BSP mayors Mohammad Furqan (Aligarh) and Sunita Verma (Meerut) too are crorepatis with net assets worth Rs 7 crore and Rs 2 crore, respectively.

ADR data show that three mayors, Sunita Verma (Meerut), Pramila Pandey (Kanpur) and Sitaram Jaiswal (Gorakhpur) did not go to college. While Pandey and Verma studied up to class 12th, Jaiswal studied up to class 10th.

The report also show that only three mayors are in the age bracket of 31-40 years, while four mayors are senior citizens, that is aged between 61 to 70 years.
