Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) & National Election Watch (NEW) have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of all 30 current Chief Ministers in State Assemblies and Union Territories across the nation. This data has been extracted from affidavits filed by the Chief Ministers prior to contesting their last elections.

At present, Manipur is under President’s Rule.

Key Findings

Chief Ministers with Criminal Cases: Out of the 30 Chief Ministers analysed from State Assemblies and Union Territories 12 (40%) Chief Ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves.

Chief Ministers with Serious Criminal Cases: 10 (33%) Chief Ministers have declared serious criminal cases including cases related to attempt to murder, kidnapping, bribery, criminal intimidation etc.

Average Assets of Chief Ministers: The average of assets per Chief Minister from state assemblies and union territories is Rs.54.42 Crores.

Average Self Income of Chief Ministers: The average self-income of Chief Ministers is Rs.13,34,738.

Billionaire Chief Ministers: Out of the 30 Chief Ministers of State Assemblies and Union Territories analysed, 2 (7%) are Billionaires.

Total Assets of Chief Ministers: The total assets of 30 Chief Ministers are Rs. 1,632 Crores.

Out of 30 Chief Ministers, 2 are women.
